Professional development

Professional Development Submissions

South West School Sport funds professional development in three areas - regional initiatives; district initiatives and individual initiatives. Each year  nominated sports are targeted for funding priorities. The sports are decided on at the November management committee and sport board meetings. Groups wishing to apply for funding need to submit a fully costed Professional Development Submission (DOC, 58KB) to the RSSO. For further information contact the RSSO.

Individuals who undertake level 1 coaching courses throughout the year are funded up to 50% of course costs. To claim the reimbursement staff need to complete an expense claim form and return it to the RSSO.

Get Active Queensland Accreditation Program (GAQAP)

At each GAQAP, a variety of different sports coaching, officiating, first aid and general sports courses are available. Not all courses are conducted at each GAQAP. State Sporting Organisations conduct the training for all the courses at the GAQAP. Each course runs for the duration of one day, allowing participants to complete one course at each program. Each course is provided free [note that there may be costs associated with registration with the national body in some sports].

  • Accommodation: SWSS will reimbursement 50% of the costs for up to two nights of the equivalent twin share amount.
  • Travel: provision of free bus service where numbers warrant such.
